Filipino Picadillo Recipe in Instant Pot

Ground meat dish with carrots, potatoes, and peas

Filipino picadillo is also known as "giniling" in Tagalog, which means a minced or ground meat.

This Filipino picadillo recipe contains ground meat simmered with tomato sauce, potatoes, carrots, and more!

It's a simple recipe where you can use your ground meat for a quick dinner, and it's absolutely delicious!

This dish is so flavorful and hearty. Of course, a side of rice completes this meal.

You don’t necessarily need the rice since there’s already potatoes in the meal, but the rice makes it so much tastier 😋


1 tbsp oil
3 cloves of chopped garlic
½ onion, sliced
4 small potatoes (or 2 medium potatoes) cubed
14 baby carrots, sliced in thirds (or 2 medium carrots, cubed)
1 lb ground meat of your choice (I used ground beef)
1 tbsp fish sauce
2 tbsp Cholula hot sauce
Salt and pepper
1 can diced tomatoes (or tomato sauce)
2 tbsp raisins (optional)
½ cup peas


Turn on the saute mode to normal level and pour in some oil. Wait a few minutes for the oil to heat up.

Throw in the chopped garlic and sliced onions and sautee until the onions are translucent. Then, throw in the cubed potatoes and sliced baby carrots. Saute these for a few minutes until the carrots become a little more vibrant.

Next, add in your ground meat (I use ground beef). Follow up with the fish sauce, Cholula, and salt and pepper of your liking. Mix this all together.

Pour in the can of diced tomatoes and stir. Add in the raisins if you’re down!

Close the pot with its lid and let it saute for 15 minutes. Keep the vent open to let the steam release.

Open your lid and test that the potatoes and carrots are tender by poking them with a fork. Next, add in the peas and a little more salt. Mix, mix, mix! Unplug the pot, you’re done!
